I am back with this week’s blog  post where I have again joined up with other pet photographers from the Beautiful Beasties Network  to collectively challenge ourselves with a weekly assignment.   This week’s assignment is Bloopers!  Well this was perfect timing for bloopers as I photographed 40 pups and their owners on Sunday in support of NorCal Poodle Rescue and there were a zillion bloopers!   Here are just a few!

What a blast!  On Sunday I photographed 40 assorted poodles, doodles, and other pups all in support of the wonderful non-profit rescue group - NorCal Poodle Rescue. They do such wonderful work and it was my pleasure to give them all a lovely portrait of their furballs with all proceeds going to help save more poodles!

I am back with this week’s blog  post where I have again joined up with other pet photographers from the Beautiful Beasties Network  to collectively challenge ourselves with a weekly assignment.   This week’s assignment is SPOTLIGHT, or using light to direct the focus of your photo.  I knew just the spot in my house where light peeks in during the early evening hours and creates beautiful light and shadows.  Hubby helped out by getting the pups attention outside.  First up is Jack and then his sister Julie.  I waited a bit between shots to let the light soften a bit.  My attempt at a duo shot failed!  Can you guess why I picked that color carpet?

Handsome Harmon was in the house (ok the studio) for his own special photo shoot and I fell in love!  His foster mom thinks he is about ready for his forever home so watch for his listing shortly at the Contra Costa Humane Society!  He is a chihuahua – terrier mix and is FULL OF LOVE!!  Won’t you let him dance into your heart?

I am back with this week’s blog  post where I have again joined up with other pet photographers from the Beautiful Beasties Network  to collectively challenge ourselves with a weekly assignment.   This week’s assignment is ‘Triptych.”   A photographic triptych is a common style used in modern commercial artwork where three photographs are usually arranged with a plain border between them.  How lucky was I that handsome Cocoa was in the studio this week and showed me all his good sides!   Not that he has a bad side!

A perfect evening at Pt. Isabel.  This was taken with off camera flash to camera left.  I have found that using off-camera flash creatively, allows me to capture these beautiful sunsets and still have properly exposed and nicely back-lit pups.  Helps that they can hold still for a nano-second too!

I am back with this week’s blog  post where I have again joined up with other pet photographers from the Beautiful Beasties Network  to collectively challenge ourselves with a weekly assignment.   This week’s assignment was leading lines – any kind of lines – trees, painted lines, anything that helps draw the eye right to your subject.  This provided me a good excuse to visit my alma mater, UC Berkeley where the amazing architecture is just full of beautiful lines!  We went on spring break so there were not a lot of students around, but the ones that were around sure loved seeing the dogs posing! Go Bears!

I’m back with our Project 52 with other Pet Photographers from the Beautiful Beasties Network!   This week’s theme is running. Capturing our pets on a run is a challenge; there is so much to keep track of!   Shutter speed fast enough to catch action?  Light direction correct?  Cute little buddy to run with?  Well we got the little buddy part right!  Jack and little Piper frolicked while out of sight sister Julie ignored all the fun.  I love the many varied shapes Jack’s face can form!
