It is Project 52 time again! This week  I have again joined up with other pet photographers from the Beautiful Beasties Network  to collectively challenge ourselves with a weekly assignment.   This week’s assignment is bubbles!  So excited by this theme, I found a $9.00 automatic bubble maker!  No need for me to blow bubbles while snapping adorable photos of Jack and Julie magically chasing the bubbles.  Oh no, I was too smart for that!  I set up the studio, put the little bubble machine up on a ladder, grabbed Jack who looked the most interested, took some lovely practice images and gave him lots of treats.  He was so happy, so contented to be my little model.  My sweet, innocent Jack…..and then I ruined everything and turned on that machine.  I am glad you cannot see the terror in his eyes!

My poor boy ran out of the studio like he was at the vet’s office about to get a shot!   He never wants to leave picture taking time…..  :(

I felt horrible!

But not so horrible that I didn’t try Julie.  But she could sense the fear in the room and my own anxiety about that stupid machine so the minute I turned it on she was gone.  Poof!  Both dogs traumatized by my $9.00 great idea.

I felt awful.  I knew I had to get them to like the studio again and fast, so away went the machine and in came each of them for some fun work and lots of treats.  So the pictures you see below have been changed to protect my innocent pups.  The bubbles are from the terror photo of Jack above and have been added digitally to these ‘please forgive me,’ happy photos of Jack and Julie.  Yes I cheated, but if was for a really, really good cause!

That’s not cheating, that’s brilliant. Great photos, I love the 2nd one Jack looks like he’s imagining some small world inside that bubble.

  2. Kelly says:

These are great. If you hadn’t told us you cheated we would have never known. I’m sure the dogs were grateful for the cheating!

  3. Good idea! (If I only could’ve had more than one bubble made at a time…)

  4. Barbara says:

Thanks for the nice comments – Don’t worry Pavlina, this was pretty ‘tongue in cheek!’ They are tough cookies. I enjoyed this assignment a lot!

  5. Iska says:

Awww, very cute! My dog wasn’t impressed either once the bubbles started landing on his head. Great job adding the bubbles on the bottom two in post though!

  6. Karen Ramos says:

Good recovery idea with digital manipulation of the bubbles into the photo.

Awe, so sorry that my idea traumatized your babies. Your photos are beautiful! One of the reasons I did this outside, I was not sure how they would react to bubbles they never seen indoors. I picked neutral place, no reason to associate bubbles with home. Love these photos! Nice work!
